Episode 1: "How to find a Positive Purpose & the Importance of Respite for Caregivers"

Guest speaker Ann Phillips discussed her road to advocacy, personal experience with medically fragile son, the experience of other dealing with COVID-19, and how to navigate these trying times as a teacher, parents, and advocate.

Highlights from the show:

  • When dealing with unexpected circumstances, whether that be COVID-19, a traumatic brain injury, having a student with significant needs, it is important to realize that there will always be things you don’t know. Reach out, ask questions, connect, and find people who will help you locate resources and be supportive during your journey.
  • When things are uncertain, try to find things you do have control over. Creating a schedule and having a structure is a great way for things to feel normal during these times.
