    More About Me

Sheri Prupis, a lifelong "Jersey Girl" is now enjoying the famous Southern hospitality. Sheri joined the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) as its new Director of Teaching & Learning Technologies. Leveraging her considerable experience as an educational technology leader and consortium builder, she works to shape and implement the VCCS vision for the integration of teaching and learning resources and technology for the 23 community colleges and system office. Sheri is a member of the Western Co-operative for Educational Technologies (WCET) and is active in ACM SIGUCCS, EDUCAUSE’s ELI, the Community Colleges' Instructional Technology Council, and Internet 2’s Community Anchor Program. This national participation gives her a perspective on the new and continuing directions the VCCS can take in growing eLearning projects. She teaches sociology and uses the same tools and resources that she promotes to Virginia's Community Colleges. Prior to coming to VCCS, Sheri was Vice President for Academic Technology and Community Engagement at NJEDge.Net, New Jersey’s higher education technology consortium. Sheri also served as Director of Academic Computing at the NJ Medical School for Rutgers University, New School University, and Baruch College/CUNY. Sheri received her bachelor in sociology from Douglass College, Rutgers University. She has a Masters in sociology from New York University and holds an ABD status at NYU. Sheri completed a graduate certification in educational technology from Rutgers University.
