Shawn McCusker is an author and Senior Manager at the Bill of Rights Institute. He has 25 years of experience as a teacher and leader in public, private and alternative schools. Shawn is the author of Becoming Active Citizens, winner of the 2022 Foreword INDIES Gold Award for Education. His column “The Tech Savvy Classroom” appeared in Digital Learning magazine. As a teacher and expert in technology integration his lessons and student products have been featured in the Journal, Education Week, Educational Leadership and the Huffington Post. In 2006, he was recognized as a finalist for the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching and 2016 he was named a Top Trailblazing Educator on Twitter by eSchoolNews. Shawn specializes in implementing innovative instructional practices and has worked extensively supporting schools in underserved areas. He has been a keynote and featured speaker at conferences across the US. Shawn also serves as Senior Consultant at EdTechTeacher and as Secretary of the Illinois Digital Educators Alliance
