Subject(s) I Teach or Learning Interest Area

Very much interested and involved in that area where people/technology/collaboration intersect. I do online courses and webinars on a variety of topics (e.g., rethinking social media; fostering community collaborations onsite and online; fostering digital literacy/digital fluency) for the American Library Association and a variety of other clients; do onsite workshops and daylong training sessions; have have been involved in connectivist MOOCs as a learner as well as a designer-facilitator.

    Personal Interests and Passions

Much of this is covered in the previous paragraph. I love anything having to do with effective, engaging blended learning and love the connectivist approach fostered by Alec and George Couros, among otheres.

    More About Me

If it involves training-teaching-learning, educational technology, leadership, creativity and innovation, or building sustainable communities, I'm on it. Currently under contract with Rowman & Littlefield to write "Change the World Using Social Media"--projected publication date: 2020--and was one of four Editorial Advisory Board members for the second edition of Sandra Hirsh's "Information Services Today: An Introduction" (Rowman & Littlefield, 2019). Publications include "Workplace Learning & Leadership: A Handbook for Library and Nonprofit Trainers," co-written with Lori Reed (ALA Editions, April 2011); two submissions in Elaine Biech's training anthology "The Book of Road-Tested Activities" (Pfeiffer/ASTD Press, May 2011) and a submission in Biech's "101 More Ways to Make Training Active" (Wiley, May 2015); the "Infinite [Lifelong] Learning" chapter in Sandra Hirsh's anthology "Information Services Today" (Rowman & Littlefield, March 2015), numerous articles for print and online magazines including the eLearning Guild's "Learning Solutions Magazine," "American Libraries," and many others; and book reviews. (Samples available at http://paulsignorelli.com/recent.html.) I also continue to write about training, learning, creativity, collaboration, and innovation on my own "Building Creative Bridges" blog (http://buildingcreativebridges.wordpress/com) and other blogs. As a writer, trainer, instructional designer, presenter, and consultant, I explore, foster, and document innovations in learning and educational technology. I design and facilitate onsite and online learning opportunities for a variety of clients by helping others become familiar with e-learning, social media, MOOCs (massive open online courses), mobile technology, innovations in learning spaces, and community partnerships (onsite and online) to creatively facilitate positive change within organizations. I served on advisory boards/expert panels for the New Media Consortium Horizon Project documenting global educational technology trends and challenges from 2010-2019 and became one of the founding partners in FOEcast (Future of Education forecast; https://www.foecast.net/team/) in 2018; remain active locally and nationally in the Association for Talent Development (formerly the American Society for Training & Development); facilitate webinars for the American Library Association and other learning organizations; and participate regularly in Maurice Coleman's biweekly training podcast T is for Training (https://tisfortraining.wordpress.com/). My most recent work remains focused on connected learning, connectivist MOOCs, lifelong learning, artificial intelligence in learning, and building sustainable onsite and online communities and partnerships. I'm driven by a love of the poetic beauty of language and thoughts shared by many writers I admire: if we're not writing, we're cranky, and if we can't find what we want to read, then we have no one but ourselves to blame if we don't try to write it ourselves.
