    My name is Maurika Smutherman and I am an adjunct professor of mass communications at Winston-Salem State University in Winston Salem, NC. I received my undergraduate degree in mass communications with a focus on journalism from Winston-Salem State University in 2014, and my master's degree in instructional technology and distance education from Appalachian State University in 2016.
