    More About Me

At the library since 2001, Ms. Striker has led the Local History Department since 2005. She has served on the Boone County Historic Preservation Review Board since 2004, where she is currently Vice-Chairwoman. Ms. Striker also utilizes a background in archaeology and GIS mapping to strengthen her understanding of historic preservation and to apply the theories of the Public History discipline to the management of local history resources within a public library environment. Under her leadership, BCPL’s Local History Department has developed a strong presence within the Ohio Valley Region as an innovative local history organization, culminating in the recognition by the Kentucky Historical Society as the 2015 recipient of the Thomas D. Clark Award of Excellence, the 2018 recipient of the Community Empowerment Award for Excellence in Community Service from the Northern Kentucky Chapter of the NAACP. Most recently, the department was the 2019 recipient of a National Association of Counties Achievement Award for the African Americans of Boone County Initiative.
