am retired teacher from the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Delhi. He retired in December 1993. I joined the profession in June 1951 as a first Librarian of Government College, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Established this library from its inception single handed. Later joined in the capacity of a Professional Assistant in Delhi University Library System in December 1995. Got promotion as an Assistant Librarian, Delhi University Library System in February 1961. Shifted to Department of Library and information Science, University of Delhi, as a Lecturer in October 1966. Became Reader in the same Department in October 1980. As a teacher Ie was actively involved in teaching and research in the areas of Knowledge Classification, Library Systems Analysis and Design, Computer Application, Library Management, and Research Methodology, in particular. It was first time that courses in the area of computer application were introduced as early as 1972 in India. He had the privilege to be first teacher in this area.
